Generic Subdomains of Top Level Domain ".lv"

Applicants for new domain names are encouraged to register their domain names directly in the TLD ".lv", for example "my-organisation.lv". However, there are several historically introduced generic second level subdomains of TLD ".lv":

• .com.lv - Subdomain for commercial entities
• .edu.lv - Subdomain for educational institutions
• .gov.lv - Subdomain for government and semi-government entities. Registrations in this subdomain are handled by VITA according to these policies.
• .org.lv - Subdomain for various forms of affiliation groups
• .mil.lv - Subdomain for defense entities of Latvia
• .id.lv - Subdomain for individuals
• .net.lv - Subdomain for network infrastructure providers
• .asn.lv - Subdomain for associations
• .conf.lv - Subdomain for conferences and exibitions requiring short duration Internet connectivity

It is still possible to register domain names also in these generic subdomains - the registration procedures and fees in this case are the same as for registration of domain names directly in TLD ".lv"
